A practical, end-to-end guide to your VibeOS desktop — the apps, the AI, and the habits that make it feel like home.
VibeOS lives entirely in your browser. There's nothing to install — sign in, launch an instance, and your desktop boots in seconds.
Sign up with email from the landing page. You'll land on your dashboard, where every instance, team, and volume you have access to lives.
Click New Instance, name it, and pick a configuration. About five seconds later you're on the VibeOS desktop in a fresh tab.
Your session persists across tabs and devices. If you close the tab, your work syncs to VibeOS Cloud — open it later and pick up where you left off.
VibeOS looks and behaves like a real desktop OS. Windows tile, snap, and stack. The dock holds your favorites. The menubar lives at the top.
The dock at the bottom holds pinned apps. Click any icon to launch it. Right-click an app to pin or unpin.
Drag a window's title bar to move it. Drag an edge to resize. Use the traffic-light buttons to close, minimize, or zoom.
The menubar at the top shows the active app's menus, system status, and your account. Click the VibeOS logo at any time to open the launcher.
Open as many apps as you like. Ctrl/⌘ + Tab cycles windows. Anything you minimize stays in the dock.
Everything you create lives in VibeFS, the cloud filesystem. There's no save button to worry about — changes sync as you work.
Click the Files icon in the dock. You'll see your home folder with familiar locations like Documents, Downloads, and Desktop.
Drag files from your local machine straight into a folder to upload. Drag between folders to move. Right-click for cut, copy, paste, and rename.
Volumes are persistent drives that survive even when the instance is stopped. Create one from the dashboard, then attach it from your instance profile — it shows up under /Volumes.
Your filesystem is rehydrated from VibeOS Cloud on every boot. Switch devices freely — your tree, your files, your apps follow you.
VibeAI is the assistant baked into every app. It sees your active app, your selection, and the files you reference — and it can take action, not just answer.
Click the VibeAI icon in the dock, or press Ctrl/⌘ + Space from anywhere.
Ask questions about a file, ask it to summarize, or tell it to do something: "Draft a reply to this email", "Create a 10-slide pitch deck about our launch", "Add a SUM formula to row 12".
Drag a file into the chat or mention it by name. VibeAI can read it, modify it, and save the result back to VibeFS.
Switch between fast and high-accuracy models depending on the task. Usage is metered against your plan.

An instance is one VibeOS desktop. You can have several — one for work, one for a side project, one for experiments. Instances are personal and aren't shared; collaborate by sharing volumes instead.
From the dashboard, click New Instance, give it a name, and launch.
Each instance opens in a new tab. The dashboard lists every instance you own.
Click an instance to open its profile — rename, attach volumes, or take snapshots.
An instance can only be used in one tab at once. If you open it elsewhere, the older session is locked.
VibeOS is built for collaboration without losing control. Share storage volumes with a person, a team, or no one at all.
From the Teams page in the sidebar, click New Team and invite members.
Admins manage members and settings. Members can access shared volumes. Viewers have read-only access.
From a volume's profile, click Share. Add a user or team and choose Operator (read/write) or Viewer (read-only). Instances themselves are private to their owner — collaboration happens through shared volumes mounted into each person's instance.
Remove access from the same dialog. The volume will unmount from their instances on next sync.
A snapshot is a full backup of an instance — files, settings, installed apps — captured at a moment in time.
From the instance profile, click Create Snapshot and give it a name like "before refactor".
Open any snapshot in the list and click Restore. The instance reverts to that exact state.
Delete snapshots you no longer need to reclaim storage against your plan.
The App Center is your launcher, installer, and publisher in one place. It holds three things: your installed custom apps, community-published apps, and a curated catalog of websites you can pin as web apps.
See every custom app you've installed. Export an app as a .vibeapp file to share it, or remove it — uninstalling syncs with your dock and desktop automatically.
Browse community-published apps. Install in one click — apps run in sandboxed iframes with the VibeOS SDK injected, so nothing touches your system without going through VibeOS.
Pick from a curated catalog organized by category (News, Sports, Entertainment, Social, Productivity, Tech, Education, Finance, Shopping), or paste any URL. The site becomes a pinned web app with its own dock icon.
A .vibeapp file is a self-contained JSON manifest (name, icon, HTML, window size, optional file extensions). Open one or drag it into the App Center to install.
Build an app in the Code editor with HTML, CSS, and JS, then publish it from the App Center — to yourself, to a team, or publicly (public publishes go through review).
Custom apps can register file extensions. When you open a matching file from Files, VibeOS offers the custom app alongside built-in apps.
Open the Settings app to change the theme, set a wallpaper, configure accessibility, and tweak per-app preferences.
Instances are your individual VibeOS environments. Each one is a personal desktop with its own files, apps, and settings — instances are not shared. To collaborate, share volumes instead.
Teams let you collaborate with others by sharing storage volumes, managing permissions, and working together on the same data. Instances remain personal.
Volumes are persistent storage drives that can be mounted to instances. Your data persists even when instances are stopped.
